When a tooth gets to the point that large portions of decay or structural issues occur, typically the tooth will need a crown. A crown is a tooth-shaped cap that fits over the tooth. It is used to restore the strength, shape, and appearance of a damaged tooth. Crowns can protect and extend the life of the tooth. Bridges are used to fill in missing teeth by attaching an artificial tooth (also called a pontic) to the teeth on either side of the gap.
